Students may study flashcards for 10 min, then collect.
Give quiz, making sure each student has a different version at their table.
Emily Dickinson "Because I could not stop for Death;" and I heard a Fly buzz-when I died"
(read pre-reading and first poem aloud as whole class, then students may work together on annotations.)
Pre-read to annotate for irony and summary, circle key words and underline definitions or explanations.
Read the first poem aloud, pausing after each stanza to write one summary sentence in the right margin.
Follow directions on the left to annotate for poetic devices.
